OBJECTIVE OF THE JOURNAL
A good number of recognized research journals exist in the field of Archaeology History and Culture. Foremost amongst them is the ‘Ancient India’ published by the Archaeological Survey of India, Delhi.
This reputed journal is discerning the light of the day after a long gap. ‘Puratattva’ published by the Indian Archaeological Society, New Delhi is definitely and another important journal but it contains research papers from the field of Archaeology solely.
‘Man & Environment ‘published from Deccan College, Pune and ‘Pragdhara’ from Uttar Pradesh State. Archaeological Department, Luck now are also a few other research journals of repute. All these journals are known for their high-quality research papers amongst historians and Archaeologists.
In spite of this, the above-mentioned journals fall short of incorporating a large number of exciting papers of high-quality research in their fold. Therefore, the need for another journal was felt which could provide a stage to other equally deserving research papers for publications.
Another important reason was to make it as simple as possible for general readers to make the journal useful for both scholars in the field as well as for general readers. Keeping in view all this, a research-based journal ICON was brought for publication.
